Indonesia,
My Beloved Country
Hey fellas! My name is Aurellia Tanica Indrawan and
I’m a ninth grader. Tunas Bangsa Christian School (TBCS) is my school and
Indonesia is my country. I’m being asked by my English teacher to write a
descriptive writing which contains of minimum 600 words. It is really many,
isn’t it? Although it is many, I will try my utmost to do it! Because I love my
country, so I decided to write about it. Hope you enjoy reading this! J
INDONESIA. Indonesia is the largest archipelago
in the world with 18,108 islands (based on 2003 satellite imaging data),
stretching across the equator for more than 5,000 km. Indonesia’s islands are
wonderful. They have fabulous sceneries. Indonesia is a beautiful country that
is located in Southeast Asia. Indonesia’s location is really strategic which is
in the equator. Long time ago, Indonesia’s location is being used by visitors
as a trade route. Red and white is Indonesia’s flag that represents the country
of Indonesia. Red represents courage and white represents holiness. As you know,
that ¾ of Indonesia is surrounded by water. Because of that, Indonesia is
called ‘Maritime Country’.
Indonesia has many unique cultures. The examples
are batik and wayang. UNESCO
designated batik and wayang as the
Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity. Javanese
traditional batik is from Jogjakarta and Surakarta. There are many types of
batik in Indonesia. There are many kinds of wayang
too. The most popular kind of wayang
is Wayang Golek. Wayang Golek is a
puppet made from wooden doll which is especially famous in the land of
Pasundan.
Beside its good sides, Indonesia also has its
bad sides. Two of them that I want to discuss here are corruption and pollution.
Most of Indonesian people love to do corruption. They do that because they are really
greedy. Greedy of what?? Of course greedy of money! They want to be richer than
before. The surprising thing is those people are the people who work for
Indonesia in the government sector. It is really horrible, isn’t it? Beside
corruption, Indonesian people also love to break the rules that have been
stated by the government such as not littering the environment. There are still
many people who love to litter their environment. Actually they know that they
should throw it into the trash bin or trash can, but they still break it because
government did not give them strict consequences like what other countries do.
In order to make Indonesia be a better country, citizens
there must obey the rules. They must stop corruption and other things that adverse
Indonesia. Indonesia also must choose a Godly leader that can lead our country.
My suggestion is Jokowi and Ahok be the president and the vice president of
Indonesia because as you know that they are really responsible. They do their
task extra miles. In my opinion, if we have them as our president and vice
president, Indonesia will be really better than now. There will be no poverty
anymore. Poor people will enjoy their lives although not as good as ours, but I
know that they will get a better living and of course better future too.
I really proud to live in an amazing country,
Indonesia! Why?? Because Indonesia is so rich especially in arts, cultures,
natural and human resources. How about you? Do you proud on where you live
right now? Sorry for some grammatical errors that I have made and sorry because
maybe this essay is kind of boring because I have no idea. Anyway, thank you
for reading! Hope you are blessed! :D

There are
now about 150,000 maids in Singapore. They came from countries such as the
Philippines, Indonesia and Sri Lanka. Most of them are paid only modest wages
for working up to 16 hours every day. The average maid looks after the
children, cooks, cleans, does the marketing and sometimes washes the family
car. In some instances, she also takes the dog for a walk. She is at the beck
and call of her employer whom she normally addresses as ‘Sir’ or ‘Madam’.
Although
some employers treat their maids well, others allow them very little time off
work. A few even confine them to the house for months on end. Recently, there
was the case of an employer who tied his maid up for an entire weekend. His excuse
was that she had tried to leave the house without permission.
The question
that springs to mind is this : why do maids put up with such treatment? The answer
is simple – money. In their home countries, maids often have to work just as
hard for only a few dollars a month. The $300 that they earn in Singapore is
enough for remittances home. It is indeed heartening for these maids to know
that they are contributing in a significant way towards the maintenance of
their families. That is one reason why some put up with less than ideal
conditions of work.
Many organizations
catering to the welfare of maids have grown up over the years. But the real
answer is this : all employers of maids should ensure that those young women
are not exploited. They must be treated as human beings with needs, hopes and
ambitions like us.
Who Inspires Me
Hi readers! My name is Aurellia Tanica and I’m a
9th grader. I’m from Tunas Bangsa Christian School. Now, I would
like to share about those three persons who had inspired me. Come on and read
it! :)
There are some people in my life who had
inspired me throughout my lifetime. They are my parents, my teachers at school
and some of my friends. Why I said that my parents inspired me?? I said that
because they had thought me how to manage my time wisely, asked me to never
give up, support me to do my best or utmost for GOD, and etc. I am really happy
because GOD has given me those adorable parents in my amazing life!
Teachers. For me, teachers are just like my
parents at school. Teachers here are really kind even though there are few
teachers that I didn’t like. They have taught me so much about Godly characters
in my daily life. Although sometimes I
hate them because they gave me too much boring lectures, but I know that it is
for my own sake. Without their help, maybe I’m still a bad girl who loves to
gossip, bullies friends, and says bad words.
The last but not least are my friends. They have
inspired me to be more friendly to others. That’s all that I want to share for
now. How about you? Who had inspired you? By the way, thank you for reading and
sorry for some grammatical errors that I have made ;D.
