How Long Could You Last Without Your Mobile Phone?

How Long Could You Last Without Your Mobile Phone?

How many days could you last without your mobile phone? According to a new report released by Bank of America, nearly half of people surveyed (47 percent) said they wouldn’t last a day without their device.
The need for access to a mobile phone ranks higher than access to TV or coffee. This was according to the survey, held by Braun Research. The phone survey of 1,000 adults was conducted May 6 to 13. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.1 percentage points. Thirty-five of people said they check.
The bank found 82 percent of those surveyed access their bank accounts at least one a week. Thirty-one percent log in at least once a day. But their study is full of other findings:
* 28 percent of respondents said they could do without their phone for about a week. In contrast, 24 percent said they would feel naked without it after 24 hours.
* 45 percent would be willing to give up alcohol to get their phone back. And 34 percent would give up chocolate (more than women , however, would give up the chocolate).
* Among the millennials (ages 18-24), a phone is more important than social-networking sites, a car, television, deodorant and a toothbrush.
* Despite new laws against mobile-phone use while driving, 38 percent admit to checking their phone while behind the wheel.

My opinion..
Who doesn't have a mobile phone these days? The use of mobile phone has become a necessity for us in this era. For me mobile phones are important for three reasons.  First, it enables me to search for informations easily. There are plenty of things that I can browse out there, and basically it helps a lot on my studies. Second, it helps me to communicate easily. It takes less time to deliver a message. Last but not least, mobile phone is a new form of entertainment. I can play mobile games, listen to music, browse videos on youtube, read the Bible easily, and many more.

On the other side, it makes me addicted, it seems that the term 'nomophobia' is inevitable throughout millennials, including myself. Furthermore the time wasted on using mobile phone can be used to do more productive stuffs, like studying, upgrading your softskills, doing Sunday services, etc.

Now I am reflecting on my spiritual life. Sure, I agree that mobile phone distracts me easily. Whenever I want to have my personal devotion through my electronic Bible, I tend to open other apps, like instagram, lines, etc and it messed up my concentration.

Moreover, reading the Bible is more important than playing our mobile phones because in order to survive in our daily life, we should read the Bible routinely because it is a shield for us, but remember, don't just read, yet meditate on it day and night, just like what Joshua 1:8 NLT said "Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do."

In conclusion, I admit that mobile phone is causing dependency, but we have to manage our time, don't let it destroy our life. Be wise and remember in everything there's a time.

My opinion about sleep drunkenness

1 Study Finds Sleep Drunkenness May Affect More Than 1 in 7 People

Ever heard of “sleep drunkenness”? Have you ever tried reach for your phone when your alarm clock rings? Or when you wake up you don’t know where you are? Then you may have experienced what’s known formally as “confusional arousal”.

More than 1 in 7 people in the U.S may suffer from the condition, according to a study in the journal Neurology. In confusional arousal, sleepers wake up in a disoriented state and perhaps behave strangely in the process. The condition often occurs when someone wakes up during non-REM sleep and can be caused by a “forced awakening: the study authors wrote. It can potentially cause violent behaviour during sleep or right as the person wakes up. To find out how prevalent sleep drunkenness is, the researchers surveyed 19, 136 people age 18 or older in 15 states. They found that 15.2 percent of respondents said they had experienced a confusional arousal episode were overwhelmingly linked to sleep disorders, which were present 70.8 percent of the time.

The majority of those who’d experienced confusional arousal were experiencing it regularly. 53.8 percent of suffers, the episodes were brief – less than 5 minutes. But 30.1 percent of them said the episodes could last 15 minutes or more after waking up. Many shared similar symptoms. 57 percent reported being disoriented as they woke up and 34.4 percent said they had difficulty talking or thinking clearly, in addition, 19.9 percent said they experienced inappropriate behaviours such as grabbing the phone instead of falling for the alarm clock. Confusional arousal isn’t officially classified as a disorder, the researchers pointed out, “probably because it has received little attention from the scientific community”.  But if it was, they said, it could raise awareness. And that could lead to a better understanding of the condition and better treatment options. “Our study shows that underestimating the importance of CA leads to a misunderstanding of the disorder and its effects”, they study authors wrote.

My opinion..

Overthinking kills you slowly. This statement came up to my mind after reading this passage.  I myself had gone through sleep drunkenness and it's awful, I can't even have a peaceful rest. You know what? Sometimes I still experience it, but at last, I realized why I face it at times. The reason is like what I've just stated on the first sentence. In my opinion, sleep drunkenness is caused by overthinking. When you overthink, it means you are anxious. You're hesitating that God is with you. You ought to remember that His plans are bigger than yours and you can't even fathom it. One thing that I want to say is, give your life to Him, let Him light up your path and guide your way. Not only that, you have to learn to surrender, just like in 1 Peter 5:7, "Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you."

Repentance

Repentance

I've fallen and sinned
Should be beyond saving
But God I still hear Your voice
When I'm out doing bad things
Why don't You give up on me?
We came only when we need

And leave when we are freed
How could You put up with that?
But I guess it/s that kindness that saved me

I tripped for the hundred time
High and drunk
And You were here holding my hand
To save a wretch like me

Plans After Graduation

Plans After Graduation
Senior high school is a wonderful time, it was filled with a wide range of emotions, expectations, and plans. It’s a time spent reflecting back on all those years in the classroom while looking ahead to new adventures of college. I often wonder about my future as I am about to finish secondary school. “What will you do during your leisure time after graduation?” is a common question. When I was faced by that question, I overthink and without noticing, it kills me slowly. Deciding my plans after graduation is not as easy as flipping my hands because I’m the type of person that wants to have a productive free time, but on the other side, I can’t make decisions easily.

There are numerous things that I want to do and accomplish in my life. Before I start my college life, I'm planning to do an internship at a local company. I’m longing to have barista as my job for internship because I find it interesting and I am eager to discover it. One fundamental reason is to try something new (positive ones), from that I also can learn how to serve others and get the experience of making espresso-based coffee drinks. Basically, I’m the type of person that loves to learn something new and I won’t limit myself to explore my talents.

Besides, I want to dedicate myself as a kid leader at my church. Actually, that idea crosses over my mind since I sit on junior high school. I have a desire to help others and make an impact on people’s lives, but I never have the courage due to my low self-esteem. For me, sharing God’s Word is awkward and I’m also afraid to be judged, but I hope I can overcome it with God’s help.

Not only that, I also love to play musical instruments, especially guitar. Music is my drugs, it soothes me and also revitalizes my soul, more importantly Christian songs. Whenever I feel down, I hear Christians songs and the lyrics strengthen me. I’m also aspired to bless others through my music performance. I hope I can form a band in the future so that someday I can perform in cafés, weddings, or somewhere else and earn money at the same time.  In order to achieve that, I’ll practice more on guitar by the help of my brothers in Christ.

When I step on my next stone, which is a university, I’ll prepare myself for my first year so that I can achieve the highest scores in my first year and keep excelling until I graduate. I want to be involved in various social clubs, because during my high school, I never participated in any student organizations and I regretted it. I thought it was useless and it would bring no benefit for me, but then I realized that there are lots of values that I can gain. Being part of an organization allows me to put all of those things I’ve been learning in class to the real-world trials. It will build my soft skills that allow me to interact with others successfully, like communication, attitude, and work ethics. The other important thing that I can get is networking opportunities. By having network, it will help me in my future career.  Expanding my network also develops my leadership skills that will be valuable in all areas of my life.

These plans that I’ve made won’t be happen if God doesn’t interfere. Just like this quote “Sometimes you are not given what you want because something better is planned for you instead.” I believe that God’s plan is always the best. Sometimes the process is painful and hard, but I recognize when God is silent, He is doing something for me. Here is a verse that I love “Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established.” Proverbs 16:3
